We have to fight the numbness and keep on our toes as the objectives shift on the battlefield, after all the killcount isn't our chief concern here for the most part. As you'd expect the weapons systems are incredibly deep and if you're willing to invest time there is a ton to do. The game was released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It's not extremely long (takes a few hours to complete), but offers a nice change of pace to the usual heroics of the series and Lu Bu is an entertaining character to play.
The biggest pull of this Complete Edition is no doubt the Lu Bu story campaign. Simple geometry, stiff animations (we've never quite seen a horse move the way they do in Dynasty Warrior titles anywhere else), are countered by tons and tons of troops on screen (perhaps more here than ever before). Nevertheless the graphics and smooth and we didn't encounter any major hickups in the framerate. The series has always foregone looks and quality animations for sheer numbers.

In fact on PS3 it's being released as an upgrade to the existing Dynasty Warriors 8. Clearly this isn't a next-gen title built from the ground up to take advantage of the hardware (it also sees release on PS3 and PS Vita). We played Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends on PlayStation 4.
